•If Australia has some of the best solar and wind resources in the world, why aren't we in the top 5 countries for renewable energy investment, capacity or capacity added in 2008?
•in 2007 there were 250,000 renewable energy jobs in Germany why are there fewer than 10,000 in Australia?
•Why are we spending 2.4 billion dollars on Carbon Capture Storage Coal Fired power stations as part of the "Clean" Energy Initiative and only 1.6 billion on large scale solar projects?
•If the worlds emissions have to peak before 2015 to have a good chance of avoiding dangerous climate change does that mean that Carbon Capture and Storage will be implemented on Australia's coal fired power stations by 2015?
•Why have we forced multimillion dollar companies, that sell renewable energy technology developed in Australia, to move to the US and China due to lack of government support?
•What are fossil fuel companies going to spend their profits on when the planet is uninhabitable?
•Why are we investing in CCS when it is projected to raise electricity prices by 78% and is not predicted to be viable till after 2030?
•Why is the driest continent on earth, Australia, investing in CCS coal fired power plants, a technology that is predicted to use over 25% more water than existing coal fired power plants?
•Concentrating Solar Thermal (CST) power plants are predicted to produce power at 4.5 cents per kWh by 2015, about half the projected cost of CCS Coal plants why aren't we investing more money in CST?
•Why does Germany, Denmark, China, Spain the US have a wind industry and Australia does not?
•Germany has 5,400 MW of installed capacity from solar panels (and it isn't a very sunny country) why does Australia only have 100 MW of installed capacity?
•Why does Israel have nearly 3 times the solar hot water capacity of Australia?
•Why do does the coal lobby say solar can't produce power at night when Concentrating Solar Thermal (CST) Power with Molten Salt Storage has the ability to store solar power and dispatch it even at night?
•Why do does the coal lobby say renewable can't provide base load when renewable powered pumped hydro storage and CST with molten salt storage have this ability?
•Why do we need "base load" power at night when most of the power is used during the day?
•If wind power is unreliable why did wind power grow 29% over the year 2008?
•Why do we spend $36 Billion on submarines when not solving climate change is probably the most likely trigger for war?
•Why should coal fire power stations be compensated when the world switches to renewable energy when they have never had to pay for the damage they have caused the planet due to climate change?
Some Questions We Need to Ask Our Representatives:

Greetings to all who have written messages over the last two weeks. You’re brilliant! We’ve collected over 200 photo’s and each one is a powerful message for change.
Last week we were sending messages to Lindsay Tanner to try and get Australia to stand up at Copenhagen. This week the CPRS is being debated in the Senate, so we are trying to make sure our senators understand that Australians care about this issue.
Here’s how you can make sure our representatives hear & see what you have to say:
1.Click through the images on the left until you find your photo.
2.When you find your photo click in the middle of your image (this will take you to our flickr page)
3.Click on ‘all sizes’ just above the top left hand corner of your photo.
4.Download the medium or large size
5.This week email your photo to Lindsay Tanner and Penny Wong and don’t forget that this is your chance to ask them some pointy questions. We’ve listed questions on the left as ‘inspiration’. The emails are:
•Lindsay Tanner MP
•Senator the Hon Penny Wong
6.Want to email even more pollies? Please do, email and phone contacts are here.
7.Please cc us in at reenergiseaustralia@gmail.com so that we can continue to remind Mr Tanner that the people of Melbourne care about clean energy jobs.
Best of Luck, and thanks for making yourself heard!
